Fair Tourism
We promote socially and environmentally compatible tourism, and participate in a network of Latin American and European organisations working on this issue.
Tourism brings together people with the most diverse cultural backgrounds and daily realities. For many countries, international tourism is a vital source of employment and income. Nonetheless, it inevitably has consequences for society and the environment. Sustainability in tourism therefore means accepting responsibility for the environment and social development in both the North and in the South. This can only be achieved by working together. KATE therefore cooperates with partners in Europe and Latin America to move forward, step by step, towards the vision of fair tourism.
We carry out information campaigns, produce audio-visual media and hold seminars for stakeholders in environmental and development education work. We are involved in dialogue with the tourism industry concerning its corporate responsibility for the social and developmental impacts of tourism.
