CSR in Tourism

Corporate Social Responsibility describes a voluntary corporate commitment to social responsibility.

The globalization of the value chain leads to a new situation where economic players increasingly operate across national borders and therefore are no longer subject to national regulatory mechanisms. This is why these players have an increasing influence on development processes in the South. Whilst at national or European level there are clearly formulated regulations for the protection of the environment, employees, and society, there is a lack of similar rules in a transnational context. International institutions such as the UN, the OECD, or the EU have therefore developed a number of voluntary codes of conduct, which can be subsumed under the heading of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
